The Wakayama Marina City Hotel is my favourite place to stay in Wakayama City.
The hotel’s style is European and although it is around 30 years old, it still exudes old-world charm with its curved balconies and saltwater canal crossing underneath.
The best part about the rooms in this hotel, is the bath with a large window looking out over this view! Every room in this hotel faces the ocean.

Rooms at Wakayama Marina City Hotel
The rooms at Wakayama Marina City Hotel are quite large for Japanese standards with western-style beds, large bathroom with separate bathtub and a balcony.
For families or groups, the hotel provides extra fold-out beds in the sitting area of the room.
Every room has a beautiful ocean view, so plan to capture those gorgeous sunsets from your own room.
Wakayama Marina City Hotel location
This hotel is located on an artificial resort island on beautiful Wakaura Bay. The island was completed in 1994, is 49 hectares in size, and includes a fish market, European theme park and onsen complex.
The island is connected by two road bridges to the main part of Wakayama City for easy access.
Wakayama Marina City Hotel is a 37-minute bus ride from Wakayama Station; 1 hour 50 minute train and bus from central Osaka, or around 1 hour 30 minutes from Kansai International Airport.
If you have a car, the hotel provides parking.
Dining at Wakayama Marina City Hotel
This hotel offers two fine-dining restaurants. The waterfront Italian restaurant named Caro e Cara has floor-to-ceiling windows offering views over the bay. The other is a Japanese restaurant named Shikisai offering sophisticated offerings of Wakayama’s local produce.
The hotel also offers a casual cafe and bakery named Caterina in its foyer. Guests can buy baked goods to take away or enjoy in the casual dining room also with views of the marina.
Despite the statement the cafe is casual, the pastries are quite exquisite and often reflect the season.
